scorpion of pragmatism
riding on back of
turtle of innocence
across river of
unfolding novelty into
ocean of jimmy open the cooler

*

alien foreign policy sneaks out of think tank at midnight
opens fire on neighboring village
which is to say, these words aren’t, properly, mine
they drop out of a me vs. them paradigm
awake enough to the lure of convenience
leaves me free to work the edge in gibbering repoussé

*

no, not that edge
precisely, the NFL needs the West Village
without having to theorize about it
feelings can once again be a hidden garden
as it was in the beginning
something to crawl back into

*

heroes who never leave the dream without a mask
pulled from the face of a vanquished real
no one else thinks it’s a mask no one can see it
glazed as it is with dream and underneath a rain falling upward
thaz right, put a little more skeez in the mix
I’m a wanna bonsai the epic

*

capped teeth and a pair of John Lobbs
and the consumer price index saw that it was good
my condo said let there be cool ones near the chaise
and there was evening, and there was morning
let us sell rad consciousness to brute matter
that lifestyle may have dominion over lifestyle

*

the shape of the axe-head screamed bad omen
we’ve always been 30,000 years too late
means-testing a bionic sublime
another high-pressure area parked over the plains
seeded with mosaics of thunder
one must drink the regional brew from a skull

who better to process
your prequalified authentication
in order to forget
you better validate
go ahead, you’re the arcana
a world can and will become

call us
no prescreening hassles
survive
choose
we’re Shawn
and we have twenty vans
