from LA LA LA

animals in the city
always surprise me
I guess they drink bodies
of rain water
at least once a day
I’m blown away
my roots are exposed
when in bloom
that’s the thing about scuba gear
one doesn’t even have to come up for air
so if your foot’s not asleep
is it awake
werewolves live
by a similar code
or so I’m told
my friend argues Newark
is Nature as such
I like to believe
my plants need me
never do they brag
about breathing
they say email
is the last sign of life
I say Windows 98 and someone
begins to weep
in the hardware store
they wouldn’t sell me a nail gun
whatever’s in my aureola
dies in reverse
oh I’ll show you magic
I used to see
how long I could hold
my breath
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
this must be
some sort of record
