Let it never be said we ring in the new halfheartedly.
It’s been a terrific 3½ months for us, and I want to thank everyone for coming around, reading, commenting, contributing, and being part of the neighborhood. And now, to celebrate the new year and a whole new set of digits, we’re moving to new digs.
We’ve been big fans of Open Letters Monthly for a couple of years now, since long before Like Fire was a gleam in anyone’s eye. Their reviews are consistently smart, engaging, energetic, and iconoclastic; folks there are well-read and always worth reading. So we’re delighted to announce that Like Fire is now the Open Letters Monthly blog. We’ll be working with them and their writers, keeping you up to date on their content, enlarging our scope a bit. But still, mostly, the same place you all know and (hopefully) love.
It’s a small lateral move on your browser but a big one for us, and we’re excited. As of January 1st, 2010, we’ll be posting from the new address. So please make a note of it: Like Fire in collaboration with Open Letters Monthly, a (slightly) new enterprise for a very new year. (If you’re a subscriber, you should probably switch your feed over as well.)
While you’re clicking around, make sure to visit the other OLM blogs: Stevereads, the personal blog of Open Letters managing editor Steve Donoghue—wide-ranging commentary and reviews of books old and new, comics, and the ever-present Penny Press; and Whitman’s Blog, which will be featuring, annotating, and illustrating excerpts from Walt Whitman’s Specimen Days and looks to be full of good surprises. And check out the Open Letters January issue! We’ll be posting links throughout the month, but stop and take a look when you have the chance. Lots of good poetry pieces in this one, a balm for any aching heads come Friday afternoon.
So here’s to 2009—on this end, at least, it was a really fun year. And here’s to 2010! May you all commemorate the change in whatever way suits you best, enjoy whatever company you’re in, stay safe, don’t mix, and I look forward to seeing everyone at the new Like Fire. Cheers!
