Snowing again. And I’m thinking that right around now everyone in the northern hemisphere is wishing they were someplace like Australia’s Bondi Beach, where Ikea put up an outdoor library in honor of their BILLY Bookcase’s 30th anniversary last month. Sunbathers and surfers could either swap their own books for those from the bright red bookcases—30 of them, of course—or purchase them, with proceeds going to the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation.
Closeup photos seemed to indicate a prevalence of beach-type reading, which is only appropriate. Hopefully they had a good mix of genres, but honestly? If I somehow found myself down there I don’t think I’d complain one way or the other.

I would totally plan a vacation around beaches-with-bookcases. Awesome.
Nothing’s better than a good read on the beach.
Sand and sun and wind and water on all those books! (Who knew I was so anal-retentive.)
That’ s great. And beach reads don’t have to be trashy. (I can’t read any of those titles, though, which always frustrates me.
