Quiz – March 2011

Exile and Cunning

The howls of indignation were as shrill and lachrymose as could be expected when a small legion of stubby-fingered button-pushers found themselves floundering as badly as did the brave souls who last month attempted to confront the Open Letters Quiz in the debut of its raucous return. "But it isn't fair!" wailed the frustrated (and, judging by results anyway, quixotically inebriated) quiz-takers, "We don't have an app for this!" Calls for the Quiz's immediate re-cancellation were universal. Undaunted, like Bonaparte, it glories in its return from the Elba of Internet suspension – and our theme this time around is ignominious exile and the various souls, some great, others blabby, who've endured it. Participants are once again cautioned against such artificial aids as Google or Wikipedia and are encouraged to rely only on their own slender wits, God help them. As always, while the answers are incontrovertible, the additional opinions expressed here reflect only those of the Quizmaster.
